We had a fabulous time at Fern Cottage. Lucy and Neil were great hosts, they were very quick to respond when we did have a problem and sorted the issue out as soon as was possible. The cottage is in a beautiful location, surrounded by spectacular countryside and awesome walks right from the doorstep. We enjoyed breakfasts out on the patio in the sun and curling up in front of the fire in the evening. I would thoroughly recommend this as a place to stay and I look forward to heading back to Fern Cottage and the Yorkshire Dales.

Cottage was as described and in a lovely location. You will find that the cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay: the kitchen is equipped with everything you need, we even had a bottle of milk waiting on our doorstep and a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge waiting for our arrival! The log fire in the living room is perfect to relax in front of in the evening after a day of exploring the local areas, and the TV has everything from Netflix to BBC Iplayer so that you have plenty of choice. The beds were very comfortable and kept us lovely and warm all night. Thank you for your hospitality, we definitely wish we could have stayed for longer but no doubt we will be back in the future!

My group and I cannot express just how grateful we are to Neil and Lucy for their wonderful hospitality, clear communication even in the midst of the pandemic, beautiful cottage and picturesque surroundings. Great walks, a great pub, a great little dairy, just a great little village. Close by to a small town to get your essentials, just ideal for a getaway. We cannot recommend them enough and we cannot wait to go back!

We really enjoyed our stay here, 5/5 experience. The location is great – a beautiful little village nestled in the dales, surrounded by lovely scenery. It is quiet and peaceful and there are lots of areas nearby that are great for walking. The house itself is really beautiful and tastefully decorated, and has all you need. The BBQ is fantastic to have too and there is an outdoor seating area which we were able to make use of because the weather was so good. The bird feeder is a nice touch, as it is quite peaceful to watch the various kinds of birds from the window. The hosts were great too and very fast to respond to any messages and offer further information. Thank you for a wonderful weekend 🙂

Really top spot for walking in the quiet Dale. We had 2 tremendous walks both from the front door. We were blessed with great weather and the bbq was superb. Both the Crown Hotel and the Crown in Middlesmoor are well worth a visit for a drink and food. Strongly recommend Fern Cottage if you like the Dales.

Neil and Lucy’s house is absolutely beautiful and perfect for a country getaway. The house is immaculate and the attention to detail is amazing, we didn’t want for anything! They are so welcoming and continuously ensured we had everything we needed. The beds are super comfy too, it was very very difficult getting out of them after looking at the Great British weather! We booked the house as a ‘mums away from kids’ relaxing weekend away and having not being home more than five minutes, we’re both looking to rebook with our families in tow. Cannot wait and we will definitely be returning! We went for breakfast at the cafe at How Stean Gorge (walking distance!) and for tea at The Crown at Middlesmoor. Both great and very welcoming. How Stean Gorge is great for an adventure too, although I won’t be taking my whirlwind of a toddler!
